Objective
We’re here to serve and connect with our community's children. There's a lot going on in the digital age and kids are overwhelmed with apps, games, streaming channels and all the information that overstimulates us, on a day to day basis. Now take this scenario and apply it to an underprivileged child who's single mom has no skills, cant find work and/or is depressed most days. This child will be often weary of the world and lacking inspiration and sufficient support. We understand what these kids are experiencing and with this perspective, we feel it’s important for us to emphasize to them how big the world really is and how much opportunity exists out there for everyone.
We administer assessments to give us an idea where each child can use educational enrichment in language arts and math. We also use Interest tests and evaluations to help us understand how the child learns and what available career path(s) might be natural or fitting to their personalities and interesting to them.
The next step is to schedule and attend a family interview so we can get to know them better and understand the level of commitment the child might need, and what support we can expect from their family, as well as what resources we can connect them with.
We’re proud to offer meals, tutoring services, and family assistance, and we take time mentoring children and families, with a focus on helping them connect their digital worldview with real-world practical applications, that if properly fostered create an understanding of all the opportunities that are available to their futures.
We carefully vet and host guest (volunteer) professionals from many disciplines (including art/design, engineering, IT Helpdesk, culinary, military, etc) to come and teach break out sessions with us, where the children can interact with them, get an idea and a feel for what a day in the life might look like AND we take the kids on weekly outings to exhibit various options and specialties that the other classes of Americans have access to, and we walk along side them, to explore ideas and encourage the possibilities. We believe through resource utilization and consistent and intentional steps, towards a goal, anything can be attainable.
Ages 12-15 boys and girls living in Atlanta zip codes 30349, 30354, 30331 and 30314 are invited, to apply to the program.
During our interview process, we meet with guardian(s) and applicants. Applicants will complete two assessments, before we can start tutoring, mentoring, touring and choosing sample enrichment paths.
